UDAAN – Give wings to your Ideas

Udaan is the vision of our Hon’ble Chairman Dr. Mohan Manghnani for all the students of New Horizon to make them independent and self-reliant in all senses. Udaan also signifies support to the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan – The Self-reliant India campaign, which is the vision of new India envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Honourable and Beloved PM Modiji announced January  16 2022 as ‘National Start-up Day. He has asked Start-ups to follow the Mantra: “Let us innovate for India, innovate from India,” as he said the country is inching close to 100 unicorns. “Five years ago, there were less than 500 start-ups in India, today there are close to 85,000 start-ups in the country

UDAAN was a Mega-Entrepreneurship & Seed Funding Program for all the students of New Horizon Educational Institution.  UDAAN was launched on the 1st of February, 2022 across all schools and colleges of New Horizon Educational Institution with a purpose to foster the brightest ideas and motivate young aspirants to become entrepreneurs. Since its launch, UDAAN witnessed a plethora of Ideas from 500 teams of entrepreneurial brains, ready to be transformed into business models. After a continuous loop of workshops, seminars, and mentoring sessions, the best of the ideas went through the Pre-Finals and a good number of ideas had been selected for the Finale where all the shortlisted teams gave their presentations on the 5th & 6th of January, 2023.

The jury had eminent entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and subject experts. The evaluation, inputs, and guidance of jury members further strengthened the students’ ideas and the top 12 teams were selected for UDAAN FINAL.

The UDAAN finale for NHCE students was held on January 6 2023 and our student start-ups “SOWMYA” building anytime healthcare kit, “GARSTUP” which hosts Online student community website, “HELPING HAND” mental health comparison, “DIPLOMA PRO” best rated android app for Diploma students, “AEROX” getting printouts made easy, “IOTA TECH” Lab education platform, “HEALIUM” Healthcare at the fingertips, “IDENTITY” working on integrating many cards , “PANDTEENS” working on student community based app, “SUMMARY” working on one click comprehensive browsing summarizer, ”CREARESILVA” working on renewable resources and “INVEST INN” an aggregator to build start-ups  pitched their ideas in front of Jury consisting founders, CEO and angel investors.

 

On January 9 2023, this long sojourn of UDAAN culminated in the Panel discussion on “Transform Ideas to create value “ empanelled by Dr Mohan Manghnani– Chairman, NHEI, Shri Tejasvi Surya– Member of Parliament, Lok SabhaShri Siddalingappa B Pujari- MD (Marketing Communication &Advertising Ltd.) GoK, Mr. Ashwin Raguraman- Co-founder and Partner at Bharath Innovation Fund, Prof. K Kumar- Professor, IIM Bangalore, Mr. Palash Gupta- Member NASSCOM, Dr. Arun Bharadwaj- Motivational Speaker,   Ms.Payal Nanjiani- Leadership Expert, Mr.Sandipan Mitra- Co-founder at Hunger Box.

Shri. Tejasvi Surya, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha was the Chief Guest for  the UDAAN award ceremony. He addressed the students and shared his nostalgic experiences.  He said India is in the interesting trajectory of growth. Our youth are lucky to be in India during this growth phase. He compared the technology free era with the current 5G era. He also highlighted that Karnataka has the highest GDP per capita and is one of the highest economic growth states in India with highest FDI inflow. So, he emphasized that students are fortunate and requested to use this opportunity to  address the real world problems of neighbourhood.  He finally concluded his speech by saying that “If you solve the problems of India, you are solving the problems globally”.

The ceremony was concluded by awarding the Winner of UDAAN 2022- Team Creare Silva single handedly led by Tejas Gowda.
