The 7 Karnataka Battalion NCC, in collaboration with the Puneeth Foundation, organized a significant environmental initiative under the banners of “Puneeth Sankalp” and “Puneet Sagar Abhiyan.” Held near a scenic water reservoir, the event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic pollution on water bodies and promote sustainable practices.

As a part of the initiative, NCC cadets conducted awareness campaigns through rallies and seminars, distributing informative pamphlets and encouraging the use of eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics. They also carried out extensive plastic waste collection drives, cleaning rivers, parks, and public spaces, with the collected waste later segregated for recycling. To further promote sustainability, cadets set up stalls in community markets where citizens could exchange plastic bags for cloth ones and were encouraged to adopt reusable items like steel containers and glass bottles.

The impact of the initiative was substantial. Thousands of people were educated on the environmental hazards of plastic pollution, leading to a noticeable reduction in single-use plastic usage in local markets and schools. The clean-up drives contributed to visibly cleaner surroundings and helped reduce the burden on landfills through recycling efforts. Through their dedication and teamwork, NCC cadets made a meaningful contribution to environmental conservation.
