“VTU State Level Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting (Men & Women) Championship 2024-25”


The Department of Physical Education and Sports at New Horizon College of Engineering (NHCE) successfully organized the VTU State Level Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting (Men & Women) Championship 2024-25 on July 10th and 11th, 2024. The tournament was inaugurated by Mr. Kiran Kumar Reddy, an International Athlete and Alumni of NHCE, along with Mr. Shobith Bharadwaj, Regional Director of VTU Bengaluru Central Division, and Dr. Manjunatha, Principal of NHCE. The event was also graced by other dignitaries from NHCE, adding to the prestige of the championship.

The tournament saw an overwhelming participation of 43 engineering colleges from across Karnataka, making it one of the largest powerlifting competitions in the state. The athletes competed with great intensity, demonstrating their strength and skill in the sport of powerlifting.

Valedictory Ceremony:

The Valedictory Ceremony of the VTU State Level Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting (Men & Women) Championship 2024-25 took place at 6:30 PM on July 11th, 2024, at the NHCE Grounds. Dr. Manjunatha, the Principal of NHCE, was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. The ceremony was conducted in the presence of other dignitaries from NHCE, who felicitated the winners and participants for their remarkable performances.

The championship concluded with New Horizon College of Engineering securing the Men’s Overall Championship with 11 points, and Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru winning the Women’s Overall Championship with 18 points.

The VTU State Level Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting Championship 2024-25 was a great success, showcasing the strength, determination, and sportsmanship of the students. The event not only provided a platform for powerlifters to demonstrate their abilities but also strengthened the sports culture within the VTU community.
