Mega Fashion Walk and Shakti Emerge as Highlights of Sargam 2026

The first day of Sargam 2026 witnessed a vibrant showcase of dance, fashion and cultural expression at the New Sports Ground, with the Mega Fashion Walk and Shakti, the mega dance competition, emerging as the two major attractions of the festival. The fest featured two Mega Events on Day 1 of the festival since its inception.

The Mega Fashion Walk brought together students from different parts of the country, including Mandya, Mangalore, Hyderabad, Vellore and Kashmir. Conceptualised around the festival’s central theme, ‘Mahadevi: The Cosmic Symphony’, the event featured elaborate costumes, creative choreography and imaginative interpretations of characters from Indian mythology. The participants brought alive the spirit of the theme through their presentation, confidence and artistic expression. The high standard of performances made the competition particularly challenging for the judges. Reva University secured first place in Category I, while New Horizon College of Engineering emerged as the winner in Category II, which featured the institution’s sister colleges.

Shakti, the mega dance event, was another major highlight of the evening. The competition showcased an eclectic blend of dance, storytelling, theatre, acting and singing, with vibrant props and elaborate presentations adding to the visual appeal. The performances brought together multiple art forms, transforming the stage into a platform for creative storytelling through dance and dance drama. The participants had invested considerable time and effort in refining their performances, which reflected their dedication, coordination and artistic craftsmanship. Reva University secured first place in Category I, while New Horizon College, Marathahalli, emerged as the winner in Category II among the New Horizon sister institutions.

Beyond the two mega events, Sargam 2026 featured a diverse range of competitions, including gaming, reels-making, emotion-switch, art events, photography, short-film making, Drama Verse and other creative activities. The varied competitions reflected the changing interests and creative pursuits of today’s student community. Through these platforms, the festival sought to encourage collaboration, confidence, innovation and artistic exploration among young participants.
