Report on Observance of Veer Bal Diwas

The Department of Counselling, in association with the Applied Sciences Department, conducted a week‑long classroom programme from 26th to 31st December on “Veer Bal Diwas – Learning Courage and Moral Strength in Everyday Life” for undergraduate students. The session commemorated the supreme sacrifice of the Sahibzades of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and helped students understand the historical and emotional significance of Veer Bal Diwas. The counsellor narrated the inspiring story of Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh Ji, emphasising their extraordinary courage, faith, and moral clarity at a very young age.

Students were guided to reflect on the idea that courage is not the absence of fear but the ability to act despite fear, connecting these values to challenges commonly faced in student life such as examinations, public speaking, peer pressure, and emotional struggles. A short audio‑visual video on Veer Bal Diwas was shown to deepen student engagement and create a strong emotional connection to the historical narrative. An interactive activity encouraged students to share personal experiences of facing fear, including exam anxiety, speaking in public, resisting peer pressure, and handling family or academic responsibilities. Many students expressed that confronting such fears made them feel proud, confident, and emotionally stronger, and the counsellor validated these reflections by linking them to the central message of choosing courage in difficult moments.

The key takeaways highlighted that fear is natural, courage grows through practice, and small daily acts of bravery build long‑term inner strength. Students reported gaining not only historical awareness but also insights into resilience, self-belief, and value‑based decision‑making. Overall, the programme successfully created a supportive space for learning, sharing, and emotional growth while reinforcing the relevance of Veer Bal Diwas in everyday life.
