“Giving Is Not Just About Making A Donation, It Is About Making A Difference “

New Horizon Educational Institutes adopted 93 tribal villages in the Bandipur, Nagarwala and Kabini forest areas, we took this opportunity to come forward and lend a hand in ensuring them a better life and improved living conditions. Every human, be it an adult or a child, deserves to live their life with basic essentials and facilitates and this is what we are hoping to give them through this camp.

The community service camp was for conducted for a day on 4^th November of 2022. It was a 5-hour long drive from our college to the H D kote.

Activities conducted during the camp

We visited two tribes.In the first village there were a total of 40 families living in the community (Betta Kuruba Tribe). The key activity of our group was to provide them some of the basic requirements like Mats, Buckets, Jugs, plates, and Clothing. Meeting was set up with the community where our team interacted with the community, sharing their life experiences, their ups and downs in life and we also discussed thoughts about what we can do to help to make their community better.

In the Second village there were a total of 80 families living in the community (Jenu Kuruba Tribe). The same amenities were provided to them. Then in the discussion with villagers, we listed some of their problems like

• The Hospitals are 16km away from them.
• No proper Transportation.
• The heavy rains damaged their crops and Shelters.
• No job opportunities.
• No toilets.

Learning outcomes of the community service camp

We got experience of living in and with the community; sharing their life and participating with them. This camp helped the students to an eye-opening experience and developed a sense of team work and social awareness in the students.

The smile on the faces of the community people while waving us bye was priceless and makes us

want to do more for them to make their lives better so that smile never fades off.
