INITIUM 2023
New Horizon College of Engineering and Literary Club, in collaboration with the Art Club, Drama Club, Media Club and Music Club organized an Inter-Collegiate Literary fest with the theme “Pop Culture” on 31st May 2023 at NHCE Campus. The fest comprised of 15 cultural events and received large participants from various colleges.
The event started at 10.00 AM with the inauguration of the fest. The event got off to a great start with the welcome address and invocation dance by the students, following which the lighting of lamp was done by the Principal and the dignitaries present in the auditorium. Around 2000+ students participated in the fest.
The events are held around multiple locations on the NHCE campus. At 10 AM the Parliamentary Debate and Beatbox started in the MBA Class room and Basketball quadrangle respectively.
- Parliamentary Debate: The event was conducted by the Literary Club and it was in the standard British parliamentary debate format; total of 25 teams took part in this debate. Three rounds of the debate were conducted, where different perspectives on Political and Social topics were meticulously put worth by the debaters.

- Beatbox Battle: Beatboxing was conducted by the Music club and it is a form of vocal percussion primarily involving the art of mimicking drum machines using one’s mouth, lips, tongue, and voice. The event had a turn up of about 7 participants. There were 3 rounds in the event, such as *Round 1: 1 minute 30, seconds. *Round 2: 1 minute. *Round 3: 1 minute (face-off).

- The Squid Game: Squid game event was held at the MBA Seminar hall and conducted by the literary club, there were a total of 26 participants, out of which 10 were selected for the 2nd round and 4 for the final round. *Round 1 – Riddle Race, *Round 2 – Wordle, *Round 3 – House of Cards.

- Album art-making: The Album Art Making event was held at the digital library and conducted by the media club, the album artwork is to capture the identity of the music within.

- Aircrash: The event was conducted by the Literary Club and the event consisted of 2 rounds; participants were grouped in teams of 6 and assigned characters based on the chit that they picked. Ninety seconds were provided to each speaker to convince the judges as to why they should be the one getting the parachute. The one with the highest score moved to the next round. The Second round was an interactive session with the judges, wherein the participants actively took part in showcasing their literary, argumentative and acting skills. Out of 17 participants, 8 were selected for the final round.

- Grouping Singing: The event was conducted by Music Club and is a performing ensemble of vocalists who sing and harmonize together.

- Improve: The event was organized by Drama Club and it is a solo event where 7 participants took part and the event consisted of 3 rounds.

- Solo Instrument: The event was conducted by Music Club and the participants classical, rock, folk and contemporary styles of music, around 15 participants were took part in the event.

- Murder Mystery: The event was conducted by Drama Club and it is a narrative about a murder and how the murderer is discovered.

- Open Mic: The event was conducted by the Media Club and the event offer performers a platform to showcase their talent in front of a live audience, there were 19 participants in the event.

- Push-Up Contest: The event was conducted by the Literary Club and it included the participants like fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and individuals looking to challenge themselves physically.

- Pop Culture Quiz: The event was conducted by the Literary Club and 16 teams were participated in the event, the quiz started off with a preliminary round and questions ranged from Hollywood movies, Bollywood phenomena, to origins of iconic Rock and Roll music and Football manager’s fashion choices.

- Treasure Hunt: The event was conducted by the Media Club and there were 20 teams which consisting of 4 members each, The first round of the event started with QR code scanning, where teams received clues for the next location along with riddles to solve. The teams demonstrated their problem-solving abilities by deciphering the riddles and navigate through the event area, moving from one location to another. Points were
allocated based on the number of riddles correctly solved, the correct order of solutions, and the time taken to reach the final location. In the second round of the event, teams continued their quest to locate the next destination by deciphering clues. Each location was carefully chosen to add excitement and diversity to the event, including popular spots and landmarks. At each location, dedicated volunteers
were present to hand out subsequent clues to the participating teams.

- Turn Coat: The event was conducted by the Literary Club and there were 8 participants in the event and where the students have to debate against themselves and argue for both sides of the coin.

- Gaming: The event was conducted by the Literary Club and the game selected for this event was “VALORANT” a 5v5 character-based tactical FPS where precise gunplay meets unique agent abilities.

At the end winners were awarded with the prize money and it was an encouraging and informative fest for students.
