BIRTH CENTENARY YEAR CELEBRATION OF THE LEGENDARY AMAR SHAHEED HEMU KALANI
Hemu Kalani was a revolutionary freedom fighter during the Indian Independence Movement. He was a leader of Swaraj Sena, a student organization which was affiliated with the All India Students Federation (AISF) and the youngest revolutionary to be martyred for the nation’s freedom struggle, barely two months before his 20th birthday. To commemorate his sacrifice New Horizon College of Engineering celebrated the Birth Centenary year of the legendary Amar Shaheed Hemu Kalani on 23rd March 2023 in agrandiose manner. The college campus was decorated with the tri color to createan aura of patriotism amidst the student community.
The formal program began at 3 pm in the auditorium with the welcoming of all the dignitaries, teaching community, students & Chief Guest. A video of Amar Shaheed Hemu Kalani was screened followed by the college music club paying tributes to Hemu Kalani through their songs.Next was the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Principal, Registrar & the dignitaries. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. Kanayalal Khatwani, Member of the National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language, New Delhi, Govt. of India.He addressed the gathering with an insightful talk on Hemu Kalani’s bravery, valor and courageous acts during the Indian Independence movement.
The dance club of the college presented a couple of soul stirring patriotic dances which kept the audience intrigued. There was also a beautiful rendition by the music club and a touching performance depicting Hemu Kalani’s life story by the drama club.
The program culminated with the vote of thanks, National Anthem and distribution of sweets.
