The IEEE PELS NHCE Student Branch Chapter from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru is organizingthe Distinguished Lecture Program on “Model predictive control in power electronics: a critical review and recent industrial products”on 29th September 2021, Wednesday from 05.00 PM to 07.00 PM in association with IEEE PELS Bangalore Chapter. The objective of the programme is to bring the researchers and academic experts from reputed institutes of our country to a collective gathering for exchanging and sharing the knowledge about the recent developments and research challenges in model predictive control in power electronics: a critical review and recent industrial products. The number of publications per year on predictive control doubles every three years. The strong interest in academia is reflected in industry with two recent product releases. Both use model predictive control for high-power variable speed drives which improves efficiency, increases rated power and lowers the overall system cost. This lecture introduces the main predictive control methods available today in a concise yet intuitively accessible way. The lesser known methods are also discussed, providing a comprehensive introduction to the subject. The first two industrial success stories are presented in detail, and their commercial benefits are explained. The lecture concludes with a critical assessment of the state-of-the-art in predictive control and points out directions for future research.

The programme details are given below.
The whole aim behind the event is to familiarize the participants with the basic principles and the concepts of circuit building and Simulation. This event will benefit the participants in having a better understanding of logic building in electric circuits. The details of the events are as follows:
Day 1: The first day of the event contains two sessions i.e., Training & Quiz
Session 1: Training: In this session the speakers of the events will be training the participants on basic electronic components and also will be a brief tutorial on how to use the components of basic circuits and then finally there will be hands on learning of the online simulation software i.e., Tinkercad. This software has a very user-friendly UI and is easy to learn as well. Then this session will be followed by a Quiz.
Session 2:Quiz: The quiz will be taken to assess the understanding of the participant about basic electronics and circuit building. The quiz will be held on the platform “Quizizz.com” which is a quiz conducting platform where the participants will be assessed on their accuracy of answering the Questions. The top 10 Participants will be sent to the grand finale round.
Day 2: This day consists of one session which will be the grand finale of the Event. In this round the Circuit Building skills of the participants will be tested where they will be given with a logic circuit building question and they will be given a time limit of One hour. Whoever will solve the circuit and gets it to simulate fully they will be considered as the winner of this event and the constellation prizes will be for the 2nd and 3rd place participants.
